Type species: Trichonothrus austroafricanus sp.n. Remarks: The new genus stands nearest to Novonothrus Hammer, 1966, but it is well distinguishable from the latter by the absence of the rostral incisure, by the higher neotrichy in the epimeral region and the number of claws. Trichonothrus austroafricanus sp.n. Measurements. - Length: 1041-1270 urn, width: 557-689 urn. Prodorsum: Rostrum conical, rostral setae arising on small tubercles, thinner than the distinctly pilose lamellar ones. Interlamellar setae also very wide, exobothridial setae much narrower than the preceding ones. Sensillus very long, its end flagellate and curved spirally.
