Type species: Trichonothrus austroafricanus sp.n. Remarks: The new genus stands nearest to Novonothrus Hammer, 1966, but it is well distin­guishable from the latter by the absence of the rostral incisure, by the higher neotrichy in the epimeral region and the number of claws. Trichonothrus austroafricanus sp.n. Measurements. - Length: 1041-1270 urn, width: 557-689 urn. Prodorsum: Rostrum conical, rostral setae arising on small tubercles, thinner than the dis­tinctly pilose lamellar ones. Interlamellar setae also very wide, exobothridial setae much narrower than the preceding ones. Sensillus very long, its end flagellate and curved spirally.
