Fifth instar larvae of 6 species of the betulae-group (species described here and those, under thesis 7 in my key) can be separated by the following key: 1 (4) Anterolateral angle of laterotergites with a prominent tooth (Fig. 17). Disc of pronotum (median carinae and reverse U shaped callosities) highly elevated. Antennái joint II thick­ening towards apex along the whole length. Length of joint II more than 0.7 times that of head width. The two species are difficult to distinguish. 2 (3) Basic colour yellow, with brown and reddish markings.
