Fifth instar larvae of 6 species of the betulae-group (species described here and those, under thesis 7 in my key) can be separated by the following key: 1 (4) Anterolateral angle of laterotergites with a prominent tooth (Fig. 17). Disc of pronotum (median carinae and reverse U shaped callosities) highly elevated. Antennái joint II thickening towards apex along the whole length. Length of joint II more than 0.7 times that of head width. The two species are difficult to distinguish. 2 (3) Basic colour yellow, with brown and reddish markings.
