S. Mahunka szerk.: Folia Entomologica Hungarica 46/2. (Budapest, 1985)

Data on the occurrence of the species Nosopsyllus (N.) consimilis (Wagner, 1898) within the Carpathian Basin are uncertain and not certified by recent finds. Consequently, two species will be discussed in conclusion on the factors causing the recent distribution of all species mentioned within the region of the Carpathians. Fig. 1. Situation and extension of the Pannonian lowland. Shaded - areas below 200 m a.s. 1. Since the common - in this case sympatric as well as synoxenous - occurrence of congeneric, or non-congeneric, but taxonomically and ecologically closely related species is a remarkable phenomenon, we shall try to contribute to the solution of this question by means of areography of the species mentioned. Besides the published data of Hungary and the neighbouring countries, we have evaluated own finds from the territory of Slovakia (Coll. IE BE SAS) and from Hungary that originated from joint expeditions of scientists of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest and Institute of Experimental Biology and Ecology, Slovak Academy of Sciences Bratislava during the years of 1981-1984. The material for studies and evaluation was taken, besides the authors, also by the following participants: Dr. A. DEMETER, Dr. F. ^MÉSZÁROS, Dr. Gy. TOPÁL (HNHM, Budapest) and Dr. M. AMBROS, Dr. J. KOVlÄCIK, Dr. A. STOLLMANN (IEBE SAS, Research Station in Stare Hory). There was evaluated also the material of Siphonaptera in the collection of the Natural History
