B. tricornis and B. opulentus , were not involved, while, four forms, B. consobrinus wittenburgi , czerskii , pseudobaicalensis , himilis subbaicalensis and P. sylvestris popovi were newly obtained. The agreement in the species composition between the two collections indicates the North Korean bumblebee fauna has been relatively well clarified by these two studies. Subsequent remarks concern all the species recorded by both studies. Table 2. Number of individuals collected in three major areas, together with the results by Sakagami (op. cit.) in parentheses. The species are arranged approximately in the order of northerly distribution in North Korea : Siberian or Eurosiberian; : Manchurian, northerly forms; : ditto., southerly forms: : Species common with Kamtchatka. In his scheme the Korean Peninsula is included in Japanese-Chinese-Himalayan region (= Japono-Kitaisko-Gimalaiskaja podoblast) which is mainly characterized by the distribution of Diversobombus. In the north-eastern area of China including the Korean Peninsula the region is further divided into two subregions: Nort-eastern. Chinese district of Amuro-Ussuri province (AU in Fig. 59; = Vostotchino-dunbeiskii uchastok Amuroussuriiskoi provintsii) and Northern-Chinese province (NC in Fig. 59; = Severno-kitaiskaja provintsiya), each corresponding to north-eastern mountaneous areas and western to southern lowlands in the Korean Peninsula, respectively). The validity of PANFILOV s division of Korean territory was more or less confirmed by SAKAGAMI (op. cit.). On the basis of many records, he concluded that the Korean bumblebee fauna comprised two distinct groups: northern forms confined to NE mountains composed of the East-Siberian elements, and southern ones occupying the entire peninsula but probably absent or rare in NE mountains. The present results clearly reconfirm this view with some additional information. Siberian elements in the wider sense predominate the fauna of NE, occupying seven out of eight forms collected in NE alone (excluding czerskii) . Both of the two species collected in NE and SE, but not
