intermediate tibiae; anterior tarsi strongly dilated in female. - Length 7.5 mm. Holotype ç unique, Middle Waria, 29.vii.1970, beaten from foliage. Lathrobium punctum sp. n. This species resembles L. australicum Sol sky, in having striate-punctate elytra and two median rows of punctures on the pronotum but it is very much smaller. In size similar to L.brun- nipes F. - Black, except the antennae, tibiae and tarsi which are reddish. Head transverse (4.5: 3.5), shining, without microsculpture, but with a few large punctures near the eyes and on the temples; temples with outstanding bristles; eyes not very convex, their longitudinal diameter equal to the length of the temples; antennae with all segments longer than broad, from the fifth to the last gradually shorter in length, with distinct setae and apical bristles. Pronotum as broad as long, parallel-sided, rather flat, shining, without microsculpture, with rows of five or six large punctures and four or five irregularly placed between these and the lateral margins; with a few short lateral and anterior setae. Elytra a little longer than broad (6.0:5.5), shining, without microsculpture, with a suturai and humeral row of larger punctures and a row between, the rows consisting of seven to nine punctures, rather flat, parallel-sided. Abdomen finely and sparingly punctured, with very fine transverse alutaceous microsculpture and extremely fine and dense reticulation at the base of the tergites, sparingly setose. - Length 9 mm. Holotype o, Agakomotuso, 7000 ft, 26.xi. 1965; paratype, Okapa, vii.1965. Pinobius gogolensis sp. n. This species can be compared with P. adjacens Cam. [= Dolicaon adjacens Cameron, 1937, Nov. Guinea (N.S.), 1:100] which is the only other species so far described from Papua New Guinea. It differs in having the elytra longer in proportion to the pronotum and they are more finely and more closely punctured. The head is a little more densely punctured, the eyes are a little larger. The aedeagus is also very different, fig. 29. - Very dark red, legs paler, Head transverse rectangular, moderately shining, diffusely punctured which vary in size, the larger umbilicate, more densely near inner margins of the eyes, without microsculpture; eyes not very convex, their longitudinal diameter shorter than the temples (5:3) which are parallel with a number of short porrect bristles; antennae with the second segment much shorter than the first and third, segments four to six longer than broad but shorter than the third, seven to ten more globular, last segment longer than the penultimate, bluntly acuminate, with short bristles. Pronotum longer than broad (7.5:6), shining, without microsculpture, puncturation denser than on head, but leaving a narrow median impunctate area, with short lateral bristles, moderately convex, almost parallel-sided. Elytra a little longer than broad, a little shorter than the pronotum, shining, coarsely punctured, with short semidecumbent bristles, suture narrowly bordered; parallel-sided. Scutelium large, with basal half finely reticulate, apical half without microsculpture but with a few punctures only. Abdomen sparingly and finely punctured; with extremely fine confused microsculpture, parallel-sided for most of its length. Legs with typical robust femora, with tibiae narrower at base, with short slender spines, tarsi with first segments equal to the two following, with short bristles at apex of each segment, the anterior tarsi strongly bllobed in both sexes. - Length 11 mm. Holotype d", Blackwater River, Seplk, vi. 1974; paratypes (3 5) same data; paratypes (2 d", 3 $ ) Asona, Gogol River, 30. vi. 1970, at light; paratype d", Gogol River, 18. vi. 1970, at light; paratype, Middle Musa, Northern Province, 24. viii. 1975, collected by R. HORNABROOK. Pinobius similis sp. n. This species can be separated from P. adjacens Cam. by the same comparative characters as P. gogolensis sp.n., and from the latter species only by the more densely punctured pronotum and elytra in all other respects it is similar, except for the aedeagus of the male which is distinctly different (fig. 30). - Dark red, legs, antennae and maxillary palpi paler. Head transverse rectangular, moderately shining, diffusely punctured which vary in size, the larger umbilicate; without microsculpture; eyes not convex a little smaller than the temples (4:3) which are parallel with a number of short porrect bristles; antennae with the second segment shorter than the first or third, segments four to six shorter but longer than broad, segments seven to ten globular, last segment longer than the penultimate, acuminate; all segments finely pubescent and with apical
