FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK XLV. 2 1984 p. 103-104 Anthiciden (Coleoptera) aus Afrika Von J. C. van HILLE (Eingegangen am 8. November, 1983) Abstract: Anthlcid material from Africa has been examined. One species proved to be new for science ( Anthicus (Aulacoderus) ghanensis sp. n.). Dr. Z. KASZAB, Director-General of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest sent me some Anthlcid specimens for examination. They are belonging to two species, one of them is new for science. Their data are given hereunder. Anthicus (Aulacoderus) ghanensis sp. n. (Figs 1-5) Size: Length 2.42 mm (2.40-2.45); width over broadest part of elytra 0.85 mm (0.82-0.87). Head: Glossy, testaceous; posterior arch broad. Punctures distinct and close with fine hairs which are procumbent in median region and laterally pointing inwards. Eyes large and bulging. Prothorax: Glossy, lighter testaceous than head; as long as broad, slightly narrower than head. Punctures as close as but less clear than on head, with white recumbent hairs. Lateral constriction well developed with long white hairs and connected by a dorsal transverse depression. Elytra: Somewhat glossy, testaceous with transverse darker band behind middle and somewhat darker anteriorly but pigmentation is variable. Punctures very fine with recumbent hairs. In male with small apical point (Fig. 5) and elongate notch. Wings: Fully developed. Antennae: Light testaceous, slender; last three segments slightly broader but not darker; last segment longer than two preceding ones together. Legs and undersurface: Light testaceous. Male abdomen: Aedeagus (Fig. 1): median lobe elongate with apical bifid partly darkly pigmented sclerite and basal pointed bar which Is split at base into two round lobes; genital opening not visible in preparation; connecting membrane with small dark pustules in the region of the base of the pointed basal bar; tegmen: apical piece pointed with two subapical lateral hairs on each side basal piece shorter and broader than apical piece. Retracted segment (Fig. 3): tergum very thin and hardly pigmented, apically round and with basal row of fenestrae; sternum consisting of a pair of thin straight bars, not reaching median line. Spiculum gastrale (Fig. 2) longer than aedeagus (note that these two structures are figured at different magnification) thin unpigrnented and hardly sclerotized. Last exposed sternum (Fig. 4) with round apical indentation and with a fringe of short hairs. Holotypes: Ghana, Brong-Ahafo reg., Bui camp, 130 m, N 8 17 - W 2 15, leg.
