abundant species which were collected in great numbers. HYDROPTI LID AE Orthotrlchia costalis Curt. - Occurs in standing waters and in the deltas of rivers. Large numbers of specimens were collected by the light traps at Fertő. In both 1976 and 1977 it took to flight from May to June, but in 1980 only a few specimens were found, ant then the flight season was in August. Agraylea sexmaculata Curt. - Its larva develops among the thick vegetation of standing waters, but also occurs in the lower reaches of running waters. Four cf specimens were collected on 8 July, 1980. Hydroptila dampft Ulm. - Little is known of its ecology, its o. is unknown. New to the fauna of Hungary. Its occurrence at Lake Fertő substantiates the assumption that it develops in standing waters (BOTOSANEANU & MALICKY, 1980). No other species of the genus Hydroptila were found in the traps, therefore the females collected also probably belong to this species. Collection dates: 1 cf, 4 5 ? on 4 August, 1977; 1 cf. 1 $ ? on 10 August, 1977. HYDROPSYCHYDAE Hydropsyche contubernalls McL. - This is the most common Hydropsyche species of the standing waters of the lowlands of Hungary. It was collected continuously from the end of May to the beginning of September. It is noteworthy, however, that no Hydropsyche larvae have so far been found in the Fertő, or in the Rákos stream in the vicinity of the site where the light traps were set. Hydropsyche dissimulata Kum. 8i Bot. - Two cf have been found so far in the environs of the Fertő. Collection locality: Fertőrákos, date of collection: 23 July, 1978, collected by light trap. Hydropsyche bulgaromanorum Mai. - Eight cf specimens were collected at the Fertő.Collection locality: Fertőrákos, date of collection: 2 August, 1978, collected by light trap. Locality: Fertőrákos, collected by light trap published in Újhelyi (1982). The occurrence of the Hydropsyche species around Lake Fertő is a real "ecological mystery". All of these species are mentioned as typically running water organisms in the literature (BOTOSANE ANU & MALICKY, 1981). POLICENTROPODIDAE Neurecllpsis bimaculata L. - It is an abundant limnophilous species of lowlands. Interestingly, only on two occassions were specimens collected at the Ferto (1 cfon 16 August, 1978 and 1 cf on 23 August, 1978). Holocentropus picicornis Steph. - A species of standing waters. It has also been found on the Austrian side of Lake Fertő (LÖFFLER, 1979). Collected in July and August. Cyrnus crenaticornls Kol. - Found in both the light trap and the trap set for catching emerging insects. Active between May and August. A typically lowland species which develops in standing waters, but its larva is unknown. ECNOMTDAE Ecnomus tenellus Ramb. - An abundant species at the Fertő. Continuously active between May and September. The sex ratio was approximately 1:1. PHRYGANEIDAE Agrvpnia pagetana Curt. - A limnophilous species developing in standing waters. Specimens were collected only at the beginning of May in 1976, and in the same month in 1977. Some specimens were also collected in September during that year. In 1980 the species was found in June and September.
