Material. Azerbaijan, Bazar-Duzi, alpine zone, 17.VII. 1958, leg. V. KURNAKOV, 1 cf, 2 9 (ZIL, ISU); "Caucasus, Daghestan, Schach Dagh, CARL ROST", (1 9 (MB). From N. patruelis Chaud, quite clearly differs in its larger size, more depressed body, flattened and reflexed lateral border of elytra, less cordiform pronotum with stronger reflexed lateral margins and coarser and denser punctures. First antennái segment larger, stronger narrowed towards base, hind coxae and sternits 3-5 multisetose, anal sternit of male with 4 setae, aedeagus stouter with longer and narrower apical lamella, right paramere wider. Nebria (Alpaeus) faldermanni Men. Nebria Faldermanni Ménétries, 1832: 112 (type locality: "montagnes de Talyche") Nebria Faldermanni , Faldermann, 1835: 33, table. 3, fig. 3 Nebria Faldermanni , Marséul, 1880: 52 Nebria (Alpaeus) faldermanni , Banninger, 192 5: 272 Nebria (Alpaeus) Faldermanni , Csiki, 1927: 378 Nebria (Alpaeus) faldermanni , Kirshenblat, 1932: 92 The species was described from Talysh Mts, afterwards BANNINGER mentioned it from Elburs Mt. Lectotype, 2 (ZIL), designated here, bears labels "Alp. Cauc", " Nebria faldermanni Mén., typ, MÉNÉTRIES det." Paralectotypes: 1 2 (ZIL), with labels "Falder., Talysch", " Nebria faldermanni Mén."; 1 g (ZMM) with labels "Alp. Cauc", "Nebria faldermanni Manh., Alp. Cauc", "type". This species includes 3 subspecies, one of them described here as new, N. faldermanni faldermanni Mén., fig. 7 Dark piceous to black, palpi at apex, antennae from segment 5 and tarsi paler. Head with moderately prominent eyes, frontal furrows flat and wide, with faint transverse wrinkles. Pronotum (fig. 155) convex, 1.32-1.41 times as wide as head, 1.39-1.49 times as wide as long, strongly rounded at sides and sinuated before acute hind angles, apical angles short and rounded; lateral sides rather narrowly flattened and reflexed, basal area and lateral reflexions with fairly dense and coarse punctures, apical margin with sparser and faint punctures. Elytra elongate ovate, moderately convex, 1.38-1.44 times as wide as pronotum, 1.58-1.64 times as long as wide, widest in apical third. Striae deep, smooth or slightly punctate, intervals somewhat convex, interval 3 with 5-9 setiferous pores almost in the middle of interval, scutellar pores present; apical carina strongly reduced. Lateral side of prosternum with fine and sparse punctures, sides of mesosternum, metasternum and sternits 1-2 with rather coarse and dense punctures. Hind coxae and sternits 3-5 unisetose, anal sternit in male with 2, in female with 4 setae on hind margin. Segment 4 of hind tarsi hardly extending from below. Microsculpture on head, pronotum and elytra practically uniform, consisting of very short transverse meshes. Aedeagus - fig. 159. Length 11.8-12.9 mm. Width 4.5-4.9 mm. Material. Talysh, Teveleband, Nudis-galasi Mt., 13.VI. 1936, leg. ARNOLDI, 11 ex. (ZIL); the same locality, 16.VII. 1929, leg. ARNOLDI, 2 ex. (ZIL); Talysh, Bilasar, Telasevi-band Mt. , 9.VI. 1936, leg. ARNOLDI, 6 ex. (ZIL); Lenkoran district, Revarunt, Zuvant, 22.VI. 1909. leg. KIRICHENKO, 1 ex. (ZIL); "Talysch, CARL ROST", 1 ex. (MB). N. faldermanni bagrovdaghensis ssp.n., fig. 8 From the nominal form differs by wider pronotum (fig. 156) which 1.43-1.53 times as wide as head, 1.47-1.56 times as wide as long, stronger rounded at sides, with wider lateral reflexion, which much less punctate. Elytra evidently more convex, more strongly rounded at sides, widest at middle, striae only with trace of punctures, intervals somewhat less convex, setiferous pores strongly ajoining stria 3. Microsculpture on head and pronotum consisting of short transverse meshes, on elytra meshes narrower and longer. Other characters as in nominal form. Genital organs of male - Figs 160, 164. Length 12.0-12.8 mm. Width 4.6-5.1 mm.
