In the western part of its area lives a special form which quite clearly differs from the typical N . verticalis and is described here as a new subspecies. This form was considered in the collection of V. LUTSHNIK as a distinct subspecies, but he was no in time to describe them. From the nominal form it differs in the following characters: N. verticalis verticalis F.-W. Legs black with dark piceous tarsi. Antennae blackish piceous, from segment 5. paler. Antennái segment 1 thicker (fig. 109). Pronotum (fig. 115) wider, 1.45-1.60 times as wide as long, with wider and more strongly reflected lateral sides. Elytra wider, 1.58-1.64 times as long as wide. Length 12.8-15.9 mm Width 5.1-6.3 mm N. verticalis animosa ssp.n. Legs entirely dark red or tibiae infuscated. Antennae entirely reddish brown. Antennái segment 1 thinner (fig. 110). Pronotum (fig. 116) narrower, 1.36-1.46 times as wide as long, lateral sides narrower and less strong reflected. Elytra narrower, 1.64-1.76 times as long as wide.
