Head in dorsal view subcubic, only 1.6-1.7 times broader than long. Mesosoma elongate, in lateral view almost twice as long as high, rl very short, cuqul about twice longer than rl, the two veins meeting distinctly angularly. Second tergite transverse, hind width of first tergite equal with median length of second tergite. Mesonotum with a characteristic punctation. Scape dark, black or blackish with yellowish pattern. - Distribution: a rare species, known only from England (1 locality) and Hungary (4 localities) . A female paratype of A. metallicus, kindly loaned to me by V. I. TOBIAS (Leningrad), was compared with a pair (1 2 + 1 o") of A. laetus named by WILKINSON, generously lent to me by T. HUDDLESTON (London), and the two names proved to be synonymous, the latter being the senior one. Within the circumscriptus-group distinct by its transverse second tergite. Tergites 1-2 always with sculpture though of variable strength, usually rugulose. Punctation of mesonotum fine to obsolescent. Mesonotum and scutellum with a characteristic satin sheen. Legs yellow, with infuscate hind coxa. - Distribution: Frequent to sporadic in Europe, observed recently in Japan. Apanteles <marritimus Wilkinson, 1941 - From among the species of circumscriptus-group distinct by its unusually strong sculpture of mesonotum + scutellum and tergites 1-3. Mesonotum + scutellum with rather coarse punctation, tergites 1-2 rugose and fore half of tergite 3 rugulose to chagreened. First tergite parallel- or subparallel-sided. - Distribution: Sporadically in England, Denmark and Hungary. New to the fauna of Hungary. Apanteles szoecsi Papp, 1973, Annls hist.-nat. Mus.natn.hung., 65: 299, g, locus typicus: Szár, Hungary, syn.n. My name, A. szoecsi, proved to be a junior synonym of A. nanus; the differences given in my original description (I.e.) are but infraspecific variations on the basis of the examination of a long series of specimens originating from several countries of Europe. First tergite moderately narrowing posteriorly, in extreme form subparallel-sided. Third tergite anteriorly rugulose of a variable size and strength. Second tergite less transverse, usually about twice wider behind than long medially. Legs yellowish to brownish yellow, dark colour relatively more extended. Otherwise similar to A. circumscriptus . - Distribution: Reported from many countries in Europe except South Europe. A pair (1 g + 1 cf) of A. ornigis Weed, originating from the U.S.A. and named by P. M. MARSH' (Washington), was compared with my
