ORIB ATID A Otocepheidae Balogh, 1961 Fernandocepheus gen.n. Diagnosis: Family Otocepheidae: Costula short. Rostral and lamellar setae originating on a transversal line^ without lateral lamelliform expansion. Three pairs of genital, 1 pair aggenital setae present. Pori iad in preanal position. Legs with sharp tarsal spurs. Prodorsum with one pair of condyles, notogastral condyles connected anteriorly. Sensillus extremely short and small. Ten pairs of notogastral setae. Pectotecta 4 very broad, epimeres 3 and 4 large. Epimeral setal formula: 3-1-3-3. Type species: Fernandocepheus franz i sp.n. Remarks: The new taxon is well characterizable by the habitus, the shape of pedotecta and epimeres 3 and 4, the chaetotaxy of the anogenital region and the position of iad pori. This combitanion was unknown in the family Otocepheidae. Fernandocepheus franzi sp.n. Measurements. - Length: 1385 urn, width: 440 urn. Dorsal side (Fig. 8): Rostrum rounded, rostral and lamellar setae originating far from rostrum in a transversal line. Both pairs unilaterally ciliated. Costula weakly developed, short, not reaching to insertion points of lamellar setae. Interlamellar region narrow, interlamellar setae short, rigid, originating near to each other. Sensillus (Fig. 14) calavate and small. Exobothridial region and anterolateral part of notogaster granulated (Fig. 10). Prodorsum with one pair of (co. pi.) condyles. Notogaster elongated anteriorly, condyles fused transversally. Ten pairs of notogastral setae present. Nine pairs very long (te: 450 Jim), flagellate, 1 pair (r3) short, stout and rigid. Surface without ornamentation. Ventral side (Fig. 9): Apodemes weakly developed, neither sternal nor apodemes 3-4. Epimeres 3-4 fused Into a large and broad field. Epimeral setae different in lengths, median setae short, lateral setae long and ciliated. Three pairs of short genital setae present. Adanal setae thicker than anal ones, ad 2 and ad 2 in para-anal position. Pori iad in preanal and transversal position. Legs: All legs with sharp spur, tarsus of legs 3 and 4 with two spurs (Fig. 11). Material examined: Holotypus (702-HO-82): "SA 189; Juan Fernandez Is. Mas Atierra, Quebrada Viliágra, 150 Höhenmeter tiefer, Wold in Graben-einschnitt, Streugesiebe, 10.11.1968. leg. H. Franz". Holotype deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest. Remarks: The new species readily differs from the so far known taxon of the family Otocepheidae, as given in the description of the genus. The new species is dedicated to Prof. H. FRANZ (Vienna), the collector of this species and the renown explorer and collector of the soil fauna of the world. REFERENCES AOKI, J. (1965): A preliminary revision of the family Otocepheidae. I.
