celsa, P. putnami festata) , 12 Eastern Siberian ones, some of them with very restricted areas ( D. coreae, leonina ) while others appearing also in the northwestern part of the Palaearctic Region ( E. pyropia , ornatissima , M. purissima , crassisigna, C. agnata ), one species displays a Sybilla-type distribution (D. nadeja) , 2 are Palaearcto-Oriental (with an Oriental preponderance: C. albostriata , C. eriosoma ), and one being a Holarctic migrant (T. ni) . RONKAY. Distribution: a Palaearctic species, with a wide area extending from North and Central Europe to Japan, a typical species of the high montane coniferous belt and the taiga zone. New to the fauna of Korea. On the basis of the extensive material at hand, it can be stated that there is no significant difference between the European, Mongolian and Korean populations, therefore the species is surely homogeneous within its area of distribution. Syngrapha interrogationis (Linnaeus, 1758). (Phalaena Noctua interrogationis Linnaeus, 1758, Syst.Nat., ed. X: 513). - Prov. Ryang-gang: Chann-Pay plateau Sam-zi-yan, 1700 m, 25. Distribution: a Holarctic species, split into several subspecies within its range (KOSTROWICKI 1961; EICHLIN et CUNNINGHAM 1978); the nominate form nas the largest known area. The examined material appears to be a contiguous series of transitions, both as to external morphology and the configuration of the genitalia, from specimens conforming to the typical European form to the allegedly (KOSTROWICKI) well separable S. transbaicalensis (Staudinger, 1892). Lamprotes mikadina (Butler, 1878). ( Plusia mikadina Butler, 1878, Ann.Mag.Nat.Hist., 5, 1: 202.) - Prov. Gang-von, district On-dzong, Kumgang-san, near Hotel Go-song, 5.VIII. 1975, No. 319, 1 £; 7.VIII. 1975, No. 325, 2 9. - Slide: No. 138 (o), Gen. prep. I. RONKAY. A disputed taxon; according to some authors (e.g. KOSTROWICKI 1961; ZHOLOTARIENKO 1974, 1976) merely a vicariant subspecies of L. c-aureum (Knoch), while others (e.g. ICHINOSE 1962, CHOU et Lu 1979) consider it to be a distinct species. The two taxa are highly similar, and their range (and the entire area of L. mikadina ) is still unclarified. A final taxonomic interpretation is still pending and a matter of future studies. Diachrysia chrysitiB (Linnaeus, 1758). ( Phalaena Noctua chrysitis Linnaeus, 1758, Syst.Nat., ed. X, p. 513. - Prov. Ryang-gang: Hyesan, room of Hotel Hyesan, 22.VII. 1975, No. 276, 1 o; 25.VII. 1975, No. 290, 2 o, 1 9; 26.VII. 1975, No. 294, 2 o, 3 o . Distribution: KOSTROWICKI discusses it as a Western Palaearctic species, separated from (the subsequently found to be synonymous) D. tutti (Kostrowicki, 1961), a Holopalearctic taxon. According to our present knowledge, chrysitis ranges in the entire Palaearctic Region, its area even overlapping that of D. stenochrysis Warren, 1913, in the Pacific confines. The genitalic
