FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK XLII (XXXIV) 2 1981 p. 239-252 Data to the Macrolepidoptera Fauna of South Transdanubia (Lepidoptera) II. By Á. UHERKOVICH (Received December 1, 1980) Abstract. - It is the second part of an assessment based on 15 years of research. 802 species with 5900 data are recorded. The great majority of new data originates from the Zselic and the southeastern part of County Somogy. Some ecological and zoogeographical comments are appended. The collecting and investigation of the macrolepidoptera fauna of South Transdanubia have been going on for the last 15 years. The first contribution dealing with some 808 species and recording 4500 data was published five years ago (UHERKOVICH, 1976). In the last five years (1976-1980) I had the opportunity to visit again several of my earlier collecting sites besides frequenting less known regions, e.g. several points of the Zselic, a hilly region northwest of the Mecsek Mts. My recent data originate from 42 localities. Light-trapping was most successful. The traps are partly the property of the Janus Pannonius Museum operated at Mike, Ropolypuszta, Palé, Vásárosbéc and Középrigóc; and partly those functioned by conservancy of forests at Szulok, Sasrét and Nagymátépuszta. At the former five localities the traps were operated for some 2-3 years. Elsewhere I made collectings regularly over several years both in the daytime and in the night; also these data are significant (Kisdobsza, Korpád, Gorica, Bakonya, Darány, Villány). At the other localities, as shown in the map, I made only occasional collectings day and night. The great majority of my collecting activity has been concentrated on the region of the Zselic. Several new data have been published by me from the Old Juniper Woodland of Bares (a nature conservation area). Besides I began collecting in such regions of Mecsek Mts. which had not earlier been frequented by other collectors, or data were but sporadic (BALOGH 1978). Faunistical elaboration should be started in the Inner Somogy (especially in Southwest Somogy) where continuous forests are still extant and in the Drava flatland of County Baranya. On the other hand, some research still will have to be done in the Zselic and the Villány Mts. It is hoped that the hereunder presented 5900 data refering to 802 species will contribute to a better understanding of the fauna and zoogeographical conditions of South Transdanubia. Most of the data are quite unknown to specialists, since only a few were published in the past years (GYULAI et al. 1979, UHERKOVICH 1978, 1979, 1980). Some zoogeographical remarks My first contribution on the macrolepidoptera fauna of the South Transdanubia (UHERKOVICH 1976) shortly dealt with ecological and zoogeographical conditions. The rare and zoogeographically important species listed there have again been collected in further localities. Apparently, at least part of the species, became more wide-spread in the 1970s.
