FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK XLII (XXXIV) 2 1981 p. 185-186 Aphaniosoma hungaricum sp. n., a new Chyromyid species from Hungary (Diptera: Muscidae acalyptratae) By Á. SOÓS (Received September 20, 1981) Abstract. - A new Chyromyid species: Aphaniosoma hungaricum sp.n. is described from the Hortobágy National Park, Hungary. A dark species, thorax, scutellum and abdomen blackish dark brown, greyish dusted. Head broader than high (40:27) in profile irregularly pentagonal, about as long as high (22:21). Eye axis forming an angle of 45° with longitudinal axis of head. Frons strongly narrowing towards antennae, its breadth at level of anterior ocellus 2.5 times as broad as that in front of antennae (34:14). Gena narrow, its width about one-fifth height of an eye. Vibrissal angle with 3 stronger bristles. Chaetotaxy of head: pyt, vte, vti, oc, 3 or. Postvertical bristles minute, not touching each other, anterior recllnate orbital bristles much shorter than two also reclinate posterior ones. About 10-14 hairs on the middle of frons equally short. Head yellow, but ocellar triangle and greatest upper part of occiput dark brown, greyish dusted. All hairs and bristles of head whitish. First and second antennái joints yellowish, third joint brownish, greyish dusted. Arista only with microscopical pubescence. Thorax longer than wide, mesonotum distinctly narrower than head. Mesonotum and scutellum almost uniformly blackish dark brown, but humeral callus across notopleural depression to base of wing whitish yellow. Pleura predominantly blackish dark brown, hind margin of sternopleuron yellowish. Thorax and scutellum entirely silvery greyish dusted. Metanotum yellow above, blackish brown below. Chaetotaxy of thorax: h, 2 n, 1 sa, 1 p_a, 1 prsu , 1 dc, pj), 1 m, 2 Bt, 2 jjc. Only one pair of strong dorsocentral bristles, in front of these much shorter 8-10 hairs present. Propleural bristles weak, minute. Posterior sternopleural bristle twice as long as anterior one. Acrostichals short, biserial but often irregular behind, rows rather closer to each other than either row from dorsocentrals. All bristles and hairs of thorax brownish black. Wings greyish, veins brown. Distance between two cross-veins twice as long as length of posterior cross-vein (14:7.5), ratio of penultimate and ultimate section of vein ni as 1:4 (14:58). Haltères whitish yellow. Legs yellow but last joint of all tarsi blackish brown. Abdominal tergites blackish brown, hind margins very narrowly yellow. Sternites and cerci whitish yellow. Ô* and biology unknown. Length: 1.2-1.4 mm. Holotypus, <j> "Hortobágy N.P. /National Park/ Kunmadaras" "K-i puszta, 1974. VI. 12" "Döghalom" "leg. Soós Á.".
