Locality: "Tunisia, Kira, Chott el Djerid, 15 km S of Degache, 16.IV. 1977. - No. 120, leg. S. Mahunka", 1 p (holotype). - Holotype is deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest; Hym. Typ. No. 2885. Chelonus obturbatus sp. n. is related to the European Chelonus species with reddish yellow pattern on carapace. They are distinguished below with the help of a key: 1 (2) Antenna of female with 17 joints, last three-four joints twice as long as broad; antenna of male with 22-24 joints. Temple in lateral view nearly twice wider than eye (Fig. 1), temple in dorsal view as long as eye (Fig. 2). Carapace in lateral view thrice longer than high medially, ventral cavity ending at its apex (Fig. 3), Face distinctly twice wider than high. Head scabriculous, around antennái socket porcate, temple rather weakly scabriculous. Scape and pedicel reddish yellow, flagellum darkening reddish brown to blackish. Carapace of female entirely reddish yellow, that of male blackish apically. o: 5.5-6.5 mm. - Algeria, ?Dalmatia (Yugoslavia) Ch. erythrogaster Lucas, 1846 2 (1) Antenna of both sexes at least with 25-26 joints, last three-four joints at most one-and-a-half times as long as broad. Temple in lateral view at most somewhat longer than eye (Figs. 4, 7, 10); temple in dorsal view usually more or less shorter than eye (Figs. 8, 11) except Ch. mediterraneus . Carapace in lateral view other in outline and never distinctly thrice longer than high (Fig. 6, 9, 12). 3 (4) Temple smooth with very fine punctation, shiny, interspaces much greater than punctures. Occiput strongly excavated; eye as long as temple In dorsal view (Fig. 5). Carapace in lateral view somewhat produced apically, hardly more than twice as long as its greatest height at its posterior third (Fig. 6); ventral cavity of carapace reaching almost its apex. Temple In lateral view as long as eye (Fig. 4). Antenna with 26-28 (lectotype with 27) joints. Head, antenna, thorax black, carapace reddish yellow; legs also reddish yellow, coxae black, trochanters brown. ij> o: 5-7 mm. - Algeria Ch. mediterraneus Schmiedeknecht et Fahringer. 1934 4 (3) Temple always scabriculous to rugose. Occiput less strongly excavated; eye more or less distinctly longer than temple in dorsal view (Figs. 8, 11). Carapace in lateral view not produced apically, at least distinctly twice longer than its greatest height (Figs. 9, 12). 5 (6) Ventral cavity ending before apex of carapace (Fig. 9), i.e. distal end of carapace incurving ventral side; carapace in lateral view distinctly twice as long as high at its posterior third, widely rounded behind (Fig. 9). Occiput relatively more excavated (Fig. 8). Inner spur of hind tibia half as long as basitarsus. Carapace usually black, sometimes partly (and always anteriorly) to entirely reddish yellow to rusty, usually with a pair of white spot at its base. Antenna o\ 24-26, 6: 29-34 jointed, <j>0: 5-6.5 mm. - Palaearctic Region. Ch. oculator Panzer. 1779 6 (5) Ventral cavity ending at apex of carapace (Fig. 12), i.e. distal end of carapace hardly incurving ventrally; carapace in lateral view 2.6 times as long as high at its posterior fourth, less widely rounded behind (Fig. 12). Occiput relatively less excavated (Fig. 11). Inner spur of hind tibia less than half as long as basitarsus. Abdomen above black, laterally and apically reddish yellow and with a pair of pale basal spot. Antenna 26 jointed. o_: 5.5 mm. - Tunisia. Ch. obturbatus sp . n . Chelonus mediterraneus Schmied, et Fahr. Chelonus mediterraneus Schmiedeknecht in litt., Fahringer, 1934, Opusc .bracon ., IH (5-8): 489, 06. Two type-specimens of this species are deposited in the Naturhistorisches Museum, Wien, which were kindly lent to me by Dr. M. FISCHER. Their designation as lecto- and paralectotype is given as follows: 1. Data of lectotype o: "Schmiedeknecht, Oran 1895" (first label), "Chelonus mediterraneus n.sp. det. Schmiedekn." (Becond label), "Lectotypus p_, Chelonus mediterraneus Schmied, et Fahr., 1934, Papp 1981" (third label with red frame). 2. Data of paralectotype similar to that of lectotype, 1 o. BLACINAE Blacus bovlstae Haeselbarth, 1973 - 1 o; "Mahares pr. Sfax, Tunisia, Biró", det. Haeselbarth. - Sporadically from several parts of Europe, reported from Tunisia (Haeselbarth 1975).
