FOLIA XLII (XXXIV). 1. ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK 1981 p. 145-154 Contributions to the Braconid fauna of Hungary, II. Microgasterinae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) By J. PAPP (Received September 12, 1980) A bstract: Thirty-six Apanteles Förster species are recorded from Hungary and adjacent countries in the Carpathian Basin. The majority of the species are new to the fauna of Hungary or to the Carpathian Basin. Every species is characterized from the viewpoint of taxonomy and zoogeography (localities, distribution). Herewith the representatives of four species-groups of the genus Apanteles, i.e. a ter-, laevigatus-. Ifoelpesand obscurus-group. are discussed. New host data of Apanteles appellator Tel., A. britannlcus Wilk., A. che le s Nixon, A. dilectus (Hal.), A. evanidus Papp. A. faucula Nixon, A . impurus (Nees), A . lemariei Nixon, A . lenea Nixon, A . mjdas Nixon and A . serlphia Nixon are given. LIST OF SPECIES Apanteles Förster, 1862 The Apanteles species of Hungary, and the Carpathian Basin too, are divided into 28 speciesgroups (PAPP 1976). Subsequently the species of thiB genus are arranged within these speciesgroups. The sequence of the groups agrees with that of my taxonomical survey on the European Apanteles species (PAPP 1976, 1978, 1979a, 1980). The laevigatus-group Apanteles appellator Telenga, 1949 Apanteles appellator Telenga, 1949, Rev. d* Entom. URSS, 30: 385, o6. Apanteles litae var. operculeJae Nixon, 1927, Bull. ent. Rest., 61: 710, o_ (abbreviated synomymization in Papp 1978). Apanteles salverdensis Hedqvist, 1965, Comment, biol., 28 /2/: 14, g (abbreviated synonymization in Papp 1978). The above synonymization is based on the examination and comparison of the holotype of A . salverdensis Hedqvist, of the authenthic female specimens of A . appellator Tel. (det. Telenga) and of the original description of A. litae var, operculellae Nixon. Apparently A . appellator Tel. seems to be a variable species considering the colour of the stigma. A . litae Nixon is very similar to A . appellator, for distinction see at this species. - Distribution: widely distributed in the Palaearctic Region from North China and Mongolia westwards to Cape Verde Islands, Egypt and Hungary. Frequent in the USSR, in the Carpathian Basin restricted to the steppes of the Pannonian district. New to the fauna of Hungary. Localities: Balatonszabadi, 1 g.
