ginning of the rainy period. We had a relatively good result in Songhwa and in the first two rainy nights in Mt. Kumgang-san. On light in general Homoptera and Lepidoptera were the most numerous. We should mention some localities where the collectings were especially good. Around Lake Taesong-ho we found a comparatively undisturbed area though of secondary vegetation. Here we collected about 2 500 insects, amongst them many specimens suitable for exhibition. There was a cultural programme in Myongsin, but here we captured also a good material before sunset. In the forest at Lyong-ak san an insecticide was sprayed some hours before our visit so we could find many specimens still alive though rather inactive. One of the most interesting places was Sinpyong where we found an area not contaminated with insecticides. We must note here, that the reported number of collected material (16 000) is highly underestimated because a part of the material will likely never be prepared (damaged specimens, very common species, etc.). In the following list we give the number of the sample followed by the locality name and other data: We used locality names according to the Map of Korea (Foreign Languages Publishing House, Pyongyang, 1976) and VOJNITS and ZOMBORI (1979). Then the collecting method, the biotope and at the end the major taxa are listed. The abbreviations are Annelida (Ann. ) Mollusca (Moll. ) Crustacea (Crust. ) Diplopoda (Dipl. ) Chilopoda (Chil. ) Thysanura (Thysan. ) Collembola (Coll. ) Ephemeroptera (Eph. ) Odonata (Odon. ) Mantidea (Mant. ) Isoptera (Isop. ) Plecoptera (Plec. ) Orthoptera (Orth. ) Dermaptera (Derm. ) Thysanoptera (Thys. ) Rhynchota (Rhynch. ) Neuroptera (Neur. ) Coleoptera (Col. ) Trichoptera (Trieb. ) Lepidoptera (Lep. ) Diptera (Dip. ) Hymenoptera (Hym. ) Arachnoidea (Arach. ) Pisces Mammalia Collecting localities The numbering of our collecting begins with 520, since the previous expedition closed with No. 519.
