It was KRIVOLUTSKY himself who synonymized his species, which appears to be justified on the basis of published figure. However, in the preparation labeUed as holotype an intirely different specimen is there, with an excised sensiUus and broadened prodorsal and notogastral setae (Fig. 1, 2). Obviously we have on hand a preparation that had been wrongly labelled. Liochthonius kirghisicus D. Krivolutsky, 1971 Zool. Zsurn., 50: 939-940, fig. 1. Opr. Obit. Po. Kles. (Sarcopt.): 64, fig. 80. In examining the holotype it was found that the PY segment of notogaster has a much stronger sculpture (Fig. 2) than it had been figured by KRIVOLUTSKY. In fact it is a bilaterally arranged, deep, partly covered impression. Eremaeus orientális Golosova, 1970 Zool. Zsurn., 49: 699-701, figs. 1-4. Opr. Obit. Po. Kles. (Sarcopt.): 160, fig. 311. The original figures of GOLOSOVA are very good indeed, the only objectionable figure is the unnecessarily thickened sensillus of the habitus. AU the examined specimens had graduaUy and only weakly thickened sensiUus (Fig. 3). Liacarus lencoracinus D, Krivolutsky, 1967 Zool. Anz., 178: 189-190, figs. 5: a-h. Opr. Obit. Po. Kles. (Sarcopt. ): 179, fig. 360. Unfortunately, neither is the original figure, nor the one published in the keys for the soil mites even these two differ from each other, are not exact. According to the examination of the holotype: rostrum with two incisures, median apex broadly rounded, though two small denticles project from underneath, thus apparenüy concave-in the middle (Fig. 4). LameUae with creased surface. AU hairs of prodorsum weakly but weU perceptibly ciliate, hairs are robust, especiaUy rostral hair being thickened at its base. Dorycrynosus ibericus Djaparidze, 19 73 Zool. Anz., 178:470-471, figs. 2: a-c. Opr. Obit. Po. Kles. (Sarcopt.): 179. The holotype is in exceUent preservation, the figure (Figs, 5, 6) clearly demonstrates that the inner cuspis of the lameUae are not entirely rounded, their frontal margin rather deeply, concavely excised, insertion points of lamellar hairs somewhat covered. I was unable to obtain the original description of KULIJEV and the species is known to me only through the identification key to soil mites.- The figures given here shows besides the shape of the lameUar cuspis the proportion of the. prodorsal hairs displaying significant difference between the two taxa, thus, synonymy should be question-marked until KULIJEV s type is available for. comparative purposes. Dorycranosus ovatus Djaparidze, 19 73 bona species Bull. Akad. Sei. Georg. SSR, 71: 469-470, figs. 1: a-d. Opr. Obit. Po. Kles. (Sarcopt.): 181 (syn. : D. moraviacus (Willm. , 1954) sensu D. Krivolutsky) The holotype specimen at Leningrad is well identifiable with DJAPARIDZE' s own figure. (Fig. 7. ) The cuspis of the lameUae .are most striking: deeply, concavely excised, nowhere is it convex, lamellar hairs emitted on outer margin of cuspis, at the beginning of the concavity. KRIVOLUTSKY's opinion is unacceptable, since cuspis of lamellae in D. mo raviacus is at least partly convex, consequently, this species should better be regarded as a valid species.
