FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK (SERIES NOVA) XXXII. 2. 1979 p. 129-132 New data to the knowledge of the Scale-insects of Bulgaria (Homoptera: Coccoidea) By F. KOZÁR, M. TZALEV, R. A. VIKTORIN and J. HORVÁTH (Received December 15, 1979) Abstract: Collections of scale-insects during 1978 provided 45 species with 1 new to Europe and 15 new to the Bulgarian fauna. Host plants, level of infestation and a phenological summary are presented. In the coUection of the authors out of the 45 species found in 1978 1 new to Europe and 15 new to the fauna of Bulgaria (these species are marked thus). With this number the known scale-insects species in Bulgaria is 107. The European-Siberian species are characteristic of the coUection represented by 8 families (Ortheziidae 1 sp. , Margarodidae 1 sp. , Pseudococcidae 11 spp. , Eriocqccidae 3 spp. , Coccidae 10 spp. , Cerococcidae 1 sp. , Asterolecaniidae 4 spp. , Diaspididae 14 spp. ). Most of the species are from the families of Coccidae, Diaspididae and Pseudococcidae. The dry material and the majority of slides are in the collection of the Research Institute for Plant Protection (Budapest) and a part of the slides in the Zoological Department of the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest. The level of infestation is also marked as F (on a scale of 0 to 4) in the text (BORCHSENIUS, 1950). The identification numbers referring to KOZÁR' s collection are given in parentheses. The species collected on decorative indoors plants are marked with x, while dead ones, at the time of collection, with M. The rest was collected as live material. Ortheziidae 1. Orthezia urticae (Linné, 1758) - Fragaria vesca, 21. X. 1978. Sofia, (Vitosa, 1000 m), o_, Lp L 2 , F=l, (905); Kochia prostrata, 17. X. 1978., Varna, o_, Lj, L 2 , F= 3, (920) - Thymus marschallianus, 20. X. 1978,, Varna, L g , F=l, (946). - The species has already been reported from Bulgaria by TZALEV (1968). Margarodidae 2. Matsucoccus matsumurae (Kuwana, 1905) - Pinus nigra, 18. X. 1978. Varna, o_ , Lg, F = 1,(931). - The place of collection is considered to be the easternmost one in Europe, according to the distribution map of SIEWNIAK (1976), and it is the second record from Bulgaria. Pseudococcidae 3. Macrocerococcus superbus (Leonardi, 1907) - 21. X. 1978. Sofia, (Vitosa, 1000 m), Q, L , F=l, (907) - The species has already been reported from Bulgaria by TZALEV (1968).
