straight, apical third finely arcuate, inner margins with a well discernible pair of teeth on dorsal surface. Male genital organ relatively short and compact. Median and anterior sections of paramere widened, widest nearly at line of articulation of metaparameres. Genital lobe unpaired, at rest triangular. Metaparameres medium large, slightly inclinate, apically widely rounded. Virga short, but its basal section strikingly widened (Fig. 40), its basal vesiculum terminating in two appendages. Length of body (without cerci) 9.8 mm, cerci of male: 3.1 mm. Holotype male: Columbia, Bogota, 1914, coH. Pehlke (gen.prep. No. 415, det. Dr. H. Steinmann). - Deposited in the PAN Instytut Zoologiczny, Warszawa. Its nearest ally is Skalistes vara (Scudder, 1876), with the following differences: S. columbiana sp. nov. In a superior view head wide, somewhat flattened. Eyes relatively small, about half as long as length of scapus. Scapi shorter than enclosed frontal section. Pronotum quadratic, about as long as wide; lateral margins parallel, posterior margin weakly convex. Elytrae well developed, about twice longer than wide. Wings absent (Fig. 41). Abdomen very weakly punctate, with a greasy sheen. Last tergite wide and lorn posterior margin slightly longer than anterior margin, thus widening posteriorad. Dorsi surface with two large pegs near posterior margin. Pygidium wide at base (Fig. 42), besides median projecting peg slightly impressed. Cerci robust, wide, visibly bent medially, inner margin with a well discernible tooth in apical third. Male genital organ wide and short. Anterior margin of unpaired genital lobe transversely truncate, lobe at rest projecting beyond median line of metaparameres; these latter relatively narrow, apices nearly meeting. Basal vesiculum of virga highly characteristic: not a rapidly expanding, but a graduaUy widened sac (Fig. 43). - Length of body (without cerci) 13-16 mm, cerci of male:3. 1 - 6. 2 mm. Female unknown. Holotype male: Venezuela, Merida (gen.prep. No. 360, det. Dr. H. Steinmann). Paratypen: Columbien, R. Magdalena E. Pehlke, deposited in the PAN Instytut Zoologiczy, Warszawa, and Columbien, Fusa gasuga, E. Pehlke (1 ex) deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest. I dedicate the new species to the late Dr. G.A, BEY-BIENKO, Academician.
