FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK (SERIES NOVA) 1978 p. 273-278 XXXI. 2 Examinations on Tortricid moths trapped by synthetic attractants (Lepidoptera) By Gy. SZIRÁK.I (Received November 30. 1977) Abstract: The sexual attractant traps for luring the males of Grapholitha molesta in 1976 attracted 27 Tortricid species belonging into 11 genera. 14 species belonged into the genus Pammene, 4 into Grapholitha, while the others into one genus each. One species was recorded for the first time for the Hungarian fauna: Pammene su- sptectana Lienig-Z. Correlations may be established between the systematic position and the luring effect of the synthetic attractants (cis-8-dodecenil acetate). Author further discusses the taxonomis position of the Pammene species coHected by the trap. For several years now, in the Research Institute for Fruit-growning andOrnamentals, Budapest, we have been using succesfully traps with synthetic sexual pheromene preparations (Orfamone*, Atramol**) for the investigation of dispersion and population dynamics of the oriental fruit moth, GraphoRtha molesta Busck. The advantage of the traps of this kind consists in the fact that they reliably show the development of population dynamics, even et very low population density. The aim of this paper is to give account of taxonomic, systematic and faunistic problems, arisen in the course of working up of the trap-material in the year 1976. In 1976 our traps were located in three main areas: at Érd-Elvira-major (in the Research Station of the Res. Inst, for Fruit-growning and Ornamentals) (4), in the state farm at the village Törökbálint (18), and at Nagykovácsi-JuRa-major (in the research orchard of the Research Institute for Plant Protection, Budapest) (5). All of the three orchards Re near Budapest. The traps were placed out partly into peach, partly into other fruit (apple, apricot, quince) plantations, and one of the traps was in the forest close to the orchard at JuRa-major. The extension of the latter orchard is small, and it is surrounded by forests. The orchards at TörökbáRnt and at Érd-Elvira-major are big farms. The former is bordered by oak-forests from one side, and by tilled lands and house orchards on the others. The orchard at Érd-Elvira-major is surrounded only by ploughed lands. The inside surface of cyRndric traps (20 cm in diameter, hung at 1. 2 m) was coated with a non-siccative stick. The pheromone caps were changed every fifth week. The captured moths were taken out weekly. The traps were set out on May 2, 1976, at JuRa-major, on June 1 at Elvira-major, and on June 2 at TörökbáRnt, and they worked until the middle of October. Product of Zoecon Corporation (USA). Pheromone preparation produced in Rumania.
