Head reddish, broad and tumid; with sutures distinct. Antennae with first segment long but shorter than distance between antennái bases; second segment quadrate, third long, longer than 4th joint. Eyes small, shorter than scape. Pronotum more or less quadrate, with a short median longitudinal furrow. Tegmina and wings absent. Meso- and metanotum normal. Abdomen expended to last tergite; transverse, with a median longitudinal furrow. Penultimate sternite broad, posterior margin rounded. Forceps asymmetrical, broad and trigonal basally, curved apically; inner margin with asymmetrical basal teeth. Genitalia (Fig. 11) typical; paramere Figs. 10-12. External paramere of male genitalia of 10 • Gonolabis umbrosa (Brindle, 1964), 11 = G. felix (Burr, 1907), and 12 = G. hincksi (Brindle, 1964) V-shaped, median incision of anterior margin deep and broad; genital lobe well developed, without virgae; external parameres broad near base, narrowed only on distal third, apex obtuse. Female similar to male, but forceps symmetrical, tapering. Length of body with forceps: male: 20-26, female: 19-25 mm. Distribution: East Africa, Indomalay Archipelago, Java to New Guinea. Discussion: Male large, blackish species, with yellow legs, almost impunctate on head, thorax, and basal abdominal segments. Head typical, tumid and broad; sutures distinct. Eyes small, shorter than genae. Antennae brown, first segment long but shorter than distance between antennái bases. Pronotum slightly widened posteriorly, all angles rounded. Tegmina and wings absent. Abdomen dilated to last tergite, thence parallel-sided, punctation
