FORFICULIDAE Stephens, 1831 A large family, characterized by the broadened second tarsal segment, and by the single median genital lobe in the male genitalia. The genitalia are relatively simple in structure, with the external parameres usually weakly sclerotized and the virgae present as a relatively wide tube which is broadened at the base to form a basal vesicle.Three genera with 9 species are recorded from Palaearctic Africa.
