Distribution: Cosmopolitan; mainly Indo-Australian but now found in allregions, main­ly as an adventive in the Palaearctic. FORFICULIDAE Stephens, 1831 A large family, characterized by the broadened second tarsal segment, and by the single median genital lobe in the male genitalia. The genitalia are relatively simple in struc­ture, with the external parameres usually weakly sclerotized and the virgae present as a relatively wide tube which is broadened at the base to form a basal vesicle.Three genera with 9 species are recorded from Palaearctic Africa.
