S. Mahunka szerk.: Folia Entomologica Hungarica 29/1. (Budapest, 1976)

Legs: Dorsal apex of trochanter of leg IV with 2-3 teeth. One thornlike seta on ventral surface of genu TV. One strong thorn-like seta beside vp ^ solenidium of tibia IV present, i.e. a total of four setae arising on tibia IV, in addition to solenidium. Tarsus IV with four thorn-like setae, of which it unusually thick and short. Type material: Holotype (51 -HO-76): E-342, Kolozsvár (Roumania: Cluj) environ, needle-grassland, (l awn )'» ? ex: Paratypss. 5 ex.: Hungarian Natural History Museum, Budapest: 1 ex.: Zoology Department, Tanta University, Egypt; 1 ex.: Musée D'Histoire Naturelle, Geneva. Remarks: The new species is an ally of E. gigantea Berlese, 1961 as far as the thorn-like seta arising beside solenidium <pj_ * s concerned in addition to body size. However it can easily be differentiated from gigantea by the shape of the notogastral setae and the form of sensillus. We dedicate the new species to the family name of Lajos IMRE the collector of the material. Epi lohmannia pall ida aegyptica ssp . n . Measurements: Length: 396-410 u, breadth: 166-174 u. Prodorsum: Rostral hairs thin, and inserted close to each other. Lamellar and interlamellar setae long, thick, and strongly barbed. Their barbs longer than setal thickness. Lamellar seta slightly longer than half distance between two lamellar setae. Ssta exa short and barbed, while exp minute. Sensillus slightly fusiform with a distal barbed thickening. Thickened part much longer than its thin stem (regarded from the border of bothridium). Notogaster: Notogastral setae, with exception of setae X2 and X3 being minute and smooth; strong, barbed and well visible. They gradually increase in length towards posterior part of notogaster where setae h^ and ps-^ rather longer than remainder. Ventral side: Slope of two epimeral ridges I is very characteristic. No connecting horizontal ridge between two epimeral ridges I. Posterior ends of these ridges togother directly joining epimeral ridges n. Seta 3b of epimere HI considerably (by about twice) longer than seta 3a. Similarly, seta 4b of epimere IV much longer than 4a and 4c. Four pairs of genital, 3 pairs of aggenital, 3 pairs of adanal, and 3 pairs of anal hairs present. Legs: All legs monodactyle. Tarsus of leg TV relatively short and stumpy, its ft'' hair thick and spiniform, besides 3 also thick and provided with thorns. Material examined: Holotypus (52-HO-76): Egypt, Horticultural Experimental Station, near Alexandria (Under Casuarina Trees), 23.V. 1975; leg. B.M. BAYOUMI. Remarks: On the basis of tarsal chaetotaxy of leg IV, the new subspecies belongs to the pallida specie s-group, the new taxon differs from E. pallida pallida Wallwork,
