Comparing the daily average catch of the Malaise-trap with the exceptionally high result of August-September, 1971 (a round total of 22 000 insects, in 35 days, a daily average of 570 Specimens) during our trip the result was somewhat poorer. 3206 specimens have been caught, of which the majority was Diptera (70-75 %), with a fair number of Hymenoptera (20-25 %), while the rest was taken up by other orders of insects (Lepidoptera, Coleoptera, Rhynchota, Orthoptera). The daily average comes to approximately 200 specimens. One of the main reasons of the this low number is that at any of the three localities the trap functioned only for a short period of time (4-6 hours). Another cause may be that we could not erect our trap at the most suitable sites. In spite of this low number of specimens, a rather varied material has been caught of Hymenoptera, especially of Ichneumonoidea. On the other hand, at a first look the Diptera material is rather homogenous, appearing comparatively poor in species. We have collected a total of 23 215 specimens of insects. At two localities we extracted samples of soil, litter, lichen and moss. The above number shows the following distribution as far as systematic orders are concerned: Coleoptera 3008 Dermaptera 20 Diptera 3804 Ephemeroptera 10 Hymenoptera 4910 Lepidoptera 9181 Me c optera 9 Neuroptera 107 Odonata 103 Orthoptera 70 P le c optera 5 Rhynchota 1711 Trichoptera 277 Col lect i ng localities - Lelőhelyeink jegyzéke The numbering of our collecting localities begins with 264, since the previous expedition closed with No. 263. The first expedition in 1970 covered numbers 1-135 (MAHUNKA & STEINSMANN 1971), the second in 1971 those of 136-263 (PAPP & HORVATOVICH 1972). The numbering of our present localities covers 68 sites from 264 to 331. The description of all the localities is found in the reports of the previous two expeditions (I.e.). This is why we omitted this part. In one occasion hov/ever there is a difference compared to the 1971 one: Za-mo san in the vicinity of Pyongyan (Nos. 186, 187, 230-233) has since been administratively referred to Pyong-Sung province, the closest, larger habitation is Bek-sung-li (Nos. 303-308, 330, 331).
