S. Mahunka szerk.: Folia Entomologica Hungarica 28/2. (Budapest, 1975)

Legs: Tibiotarsus of leg I (Fig. 3) relatively thick, short. Solenidion cO^ fusiform. Hairs of legs II-IV (Fig. 4) simplex, pulvilli small. Tarsi with 7 hairs. Material examined: Holotype (T-1739-75): Poland, Brdno, 25.09.73; Paratypes: 6 ex. (T-1740-75): data as for holotype. Remarks: The new species is nearly related to Siteroptes vetus (RACK, 1965), but in this latter the setae 4a and 4b are well .recognizable, whereas hair 4c is missing; the form of the tarsus of leg I is also different, being considerably longer, attenuating towards the claw. ' Bren.nandania subvarsoviensis sp.n. Measurements. Length: 168-174 u; breadth: 81-83 u. Habitus: The slightly angular body shape, characteristic of its congeners-, well observable also in this species. Propodosoma relatively large, only its base covered by hysterosoma. Well chitinized. Dorsal side (Fig. 5): Stalk of sensillus long, deeply reclining towards ventral side, between legs I and II. Exobothridial hair of propodosoma long, robust. Hair C2 of hysterosoma slightly longer than hair ej; hair d^ not reaching base of hairs e. Both pairs of setae of segment E originating near body margin, with a weak chitinous line extending laterally to base of eg. Hairs of segment F characteristic, hair fg extremely long, thin, arcuate; hair fg essentially shorter, simplex, without a long, attenuating apical part. Segment H with 3 pairs of setae, hairs h^ and I13 approximately of equal length, hair h 2 considerably shorter. Ventral side (Fig. 6): Apodemes of anterior sternal plate well developed, those of posterior plate weaker. Apodeme 4 short, hardly extending beyond base of hair 3b. Hairs 2a and 2b of approximately equal length and thickness on anterior sternal plate. Hair 4a absent from posterior sternal plate. Legs: Tibotarsus of leg I (Fig. 7) with solenidion CJ ^ thick and short, solenidion CO 2 minute, similarly to Leg IV (Fig. 8) with long hairs dF and dT. Material examined: Holotype (T-1741-75): Poland, Brdno, 25.09.73; paratype: 1 ex. (T-1742-75): data as for holotype. Remarks: The genus Brennandanla 1 SASA, 1961, had so far no species in which segment H had 3 pairs of setae, concomitant with the above great difference in length the hairs f^and a similarly thin, flagelliform hair Í2High numbers of Sitoreptes polonicus sp.n. and single individuals of Brennandania subvarsoviensis sp.n. occurred in a meadow covered with vegetation of the alliance Arrhenatherion, dominated by Arrhenatherum elatius, Dactylis glomerata and Festuca pratensis. The meadow is mown three times a year and fertilized. Soil is brown mud formed from clay sands of alluvial origin. The content of humus is 3,7%, phosphorus 0,53 % and potassium 0,68 %. pH is 6.8-5.2. Soil moisture is 25-40 % per weight unit or 5-18% during short periods of drought (Czerwinski, in press). Water-table
