ZYROMSKA-RUDSKA (Received January 3, 1975) Abstract: Study of Polish Tarsonemida species. Description of 2 new species (Siteroptes polonicus sp.n., Brennandania varsoviensis sp.n.) in given. Nondescribed species of Tarsonemid mites have been found in the material extracted from litter and soil of a meadow located in central Poland (near Warsawa). Their characteristics are given below. Siteroptes polonicus sp.n. Measurements. - Length: 175-194 u; breadth: 82-91 u. Habitus: Slightly angular, body anteriorly and posteriorly straightly truncate. Anterior margin of hysterosoma also straight. Segment C, however, deeply incised medially at margin of body end. Weakly chitinized. Dorsal side (Fig. 1): Clavus of sensillus large, nearly round.) All dorsal hairs rigid; exobothridial seta and hair C2 curved, all other hairs straight and apically obtuse. Their proportions characteristic, very similar to those of S. vetus (RACK, 1965). Hair 113 of segment H essentially longer than the two inner pairs. Ventral side (Fig. 2): Apodemes of anterior sternal plate well developed; posterior plate with only intercrossing fragments of ap. 4 adn ap.sp. recognizable in middle of body. Both anterior and posterior sternal plates with 5 (3+2) pairs of setae; hair lc bifurcating in front, hair 4a absent behind.
