ZOMBORI, L.: Notes on the sawfly fauna of Nagykovácsi (near Budapest) (Hymenoptera: Symphyta) II. The author making regular collecting trips in the environs of Nagykovácsi concludes that 1972 was a successful year for sawflies. Altogether 64 species were collected of which 40 proved to be new to the sawfly fauna of this region. One of the most valuable of catches was a male specimen of the very rare Macrophya teutona KONOW. Other interesting species like Rhogogaster genistae BENSON was also a useful addition to the knowledge of the distribution of this species. In this second paper, the author included length data on species, for he stresses that museum specimens are generally a few millimetres shorter than the living ones. Atplaces where he felt it justified he made special reference to the colour of the living specimens, for after death certain colours tend to lose their brightness, they may fade or become darker, all contributing to more difficult identification. These notes, it is hoped, may be of some interest especially to the beginners and to those field collectors who wish to identify their spoil soon after collecting. Finally, a few words have been spared on the classification of Benson, on the basis of which the first paper was arranged, and on the advantage of Malaise' s system which henceforth is adopted in this series of papers. The major changes of classification include the transferring of genera from one into another subfamily and the synonymization of Allantus (ROHWER. 1911, ENSLIN, 1913, BENSON, 1952, TÀKEUCH1, 1952, nec PANZER) with Emphytus KLUG. Thus, the former becomes in the above sense the junior synonym of the latter genus. This synonymy was proposed by MALAISE in 1963, in his commendable work on the "Hymenoptera Tenthredinoidea Subfamily Selandriinae . Key to the Genera of the World" (Entom. Tidsk. , 84: 159-215).
