ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK (SERIES NOVA) XXVII. 2. 1974. p. 235-237 A New Geometrid Species: Eupithecia wettsteini sp. nov. from Hungary (Lepidoptera) By A. VOJNITS (Received June 8, 1974) ABSTRACT: Eupithecia wettsteini sp.nov., from Hungary, differs essentially from all known European forms, with slightly similar species occurring only in Central Asia. The description of the new species could not have been made without having studied the Eupithecia material, and with special regard of the rich Asiatic collections, of the Zoologisches Forschungsinstitut und Museum A. Koenig, Bonn, Germany. My research was made possible by the grant of the Humboldt Foundation, Bonn, and substantially helped and supported by Dr. U. ROESLER, Keeper of Lepidoptera, and Prof. Dr.E. G. F.SAUER, Director of the Museum, I am deeply indebted to both. Eupithecia wettsteini sp . nov . Diagnosis. On the basis of the single known 2 exemplar, a rather large-sized species: the alar expanse being 23.5 mm. Wings elongate, termen of fore wing considerably shorter than dorsum; costa finely arcuate at apex, apex obtuse termen below apex slightly convexely then very finely concavely arched. Hind wing much elongated, similar to fore wing, margina rounded. Basic color of fore wing ochreous yellow. Basal field nearly patternless. Antemedian line zigzaggy, narrow, slightly obsolescent brown. Median field divided by a robust, brown transverse line: basal section patternless, while outer section (towards postmedian line) ornamented by parallel transverse stripes. Discal spot round and dark brown, situated oninner inner side of an agle projecting toward postmedian, at anterior third of median field. Terminal field wide, rather yello-
