FOLIA ENTOMOLOGICA HUNGARICA ROVARTANI KÖZLEMÉNYEK (SERIES NOVA) XXVII. 2. 1974. p. 103-107 A new Genus and Species of Tiphiidae (Hymenoptera) from Ethiopia By C. G. NAGY (Received 30 April, 1974) ABSTRACT:Descriptionfrom en© material of the Hungarian Natural History Museum a new genus and species of Tiphiidae ( Cabaraxa compedita gen. n., sp.n.; from Ethiopia. The male specimen on which the following new genus and new species are based, was found recently while I studied some miscellaneous material in the collection of the Hungarian Natural History Museum. Comparison of the Ethiopian specimen with those available from the rest of the African mainland, reveals that the former is generically distinct from those found on the black continent. Superficially the specimen bears a very strong resemblance to some of the more elongated species of the indo-paciiicTiphiinae, however, the short ending radial cell of fore wing still to be unknown in that zoogeographical area. After the wing venation, this new genus apparently is most closely related to the palaearctic genus Icronatha NAGY, though, differing widely in absence of transverse carinae of the first and the second tergite and, in another genetic features, as indicated in the diagnosis given below. The author wishes to extend his sincere thanks to Prof. L. MÓCZÁR of the Zoological Institute of the University at Szeged, for the loan of the material described here. Cabaraxa gen.nov. Type-species: Cabaraxa compedita sp. nov., by monotypy and by present designation.
