Some 600 male corn borers were set free partly directly and partly from boxes havlnt slits cut in them: the majority of the male specimens were liberated only 1 metre away the traps. Surprisingly not a single specimen flew into the sexual-attraction traps! According to the author's observation even 3-6 days after the liberation of the males many exemplars were resting in the neighbouring bushes and tree-trunks a few metres off the traps, but not one specimen entered. Thus it is justified to make further investigations to find out why the males did not fly into the traps. Actually, this question is even the more important for the above fact contradicts literary data referring to auccessful usage of trapa in order to catch corn borer males. Dr. A.
