. Strand and mangrove zone

. Busua village and seaside resort lies on the boundary of the rain forest and coastal savanna zones, still with considerable precipitation. The hills, framing the bay on the west, are covered by rainforests and on the east by shrubs of the savanna. All collections have been made near the seashore on the coastal grass and on the coconut plantations. The light trap operated near a small river mouth with mangrove vegetation on its shores and with a good view over the strand belt with its coconut plantation. The earlier light collections were made with normal electric bulbs or neon tubes,the later ones with UV and mercury vapour bulbs. 12. Cape Coast: Central region N. 5.06, W. 1.16, Alt.: 0-175 ft (0-53 m). Coastal savanna, strand and mangrove zones. The vegetation on this more humid part of the coastal savanna zone consists of dense shrub, in some places without any undergrowth, and in others replaced by grass patches. The marshy lagoon beds and the shores of the open lagoons bear a dense mangrove vegetation, which does not, however, grow to the tall tree level. The shore is lined by strand vegetation and coconut plantations. Only a few collections have been made here, by netting on the grass and shrub vegetation. 13.
