The vegetation consists of thick shrubs and open grassland alternately ,at the sea with a line of coastal vegetation, and around the lagoons with mangrove. Only a few collections have been made in this area, and those mainly in the coastal zone. 3. Ada: Eastern region N. 5.46, E. 0.38, Alt.: 0-60 ft (0-18 m) . Coastal savanna zone. One of the highest points of the country, belonging to the Togo-Atakora system, with a beautiful outlook over the Volta basin and lake. Some of the peaks are covered with short thick vegetation (netting over the resthouse), and others by high forest. The forests near the villages are of a secondary type or planted with cocoa (singled under tree bark), but at some greater distances they are in the original condition. A forest in a valley behind the resthouse is particularly impressive, probably of an isolated rainforest type. 5. Banda-Nkwanta : Northern region N. 8.22, W. 2.09, Alt.: 400 ft (122 m) .
