Anteriorly to the scape, the nervus antennalis generally bifurcates and contains the motoric nerves in a common lateral branch. The nerve trunk containing the motoric nerves emits, along its course between the muscles, a series of lateral branches to the corresponding muscles (Fig.l). The nerve trunk, Fig. 1: The typical muscles and nerves of the antenna (Original ) containing the sensory nerve branch, divides - aligned with the scape or slightly before it (in general depending on the length of the antennae) - into one or two lateral branches which terminate in the sensory bristles or in the sensory epithel of the several joints, especially in that of the last (apical) one.
