the close collaboration of the professional and amateur entomologists; we have to keep a loving eye on, and help to raise, the young enhusiasts interested in entomology in order to ensure the replacement of their elders, and to remove obstacles hindering the collecting activities and the increase of the collections of the amateurs. Every entomologist and layman seriously interested in entomology must join our ranks. The main staff of the lecturers must be extended to include the amateurs, many of whom make valuable scientific observations and collectings. Our periodical, the Rovartani Közlemények, must be kept on its upward trend, its content, quality, and thematics must continually strive to attain always higher levels. Let our Society realize these projects, and we may rest assured that the Society will fulfill its mission: the guidance of Hungarian entomological life. On this festive occasion, commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of our Society, we cannot but dip the flag of gratitude and esteem in the memory of those prominent men who laid the foundations of our Society, who stood by and directed its fate during so many adverse years, and who served so unselfishly the cause of Hungarian entomological investigations. But we are also indebted to every member who had faithfully persevered and assured the survival of the Society with their support, knowledge, and pennies. The course of Hungarian entomology is in the ascendant and it enjoys considerable international prestige. In reaching these results, our Society had a leading role. We have every hope that it will prove true to its vocation, raising new generations to take over the splendid standard from the hands of their fellow members called away from among our ranks. Long live and flourish the Hungarian Entomological Society! Live and flourish the community of the entomologists of the world! -
