months of the year. The main flying period is May-J one-July. Regarding the time of appearance and swarming and also the number of generations of the asveral species, my data are not congruent with these of Abafi-Aigners Seit?,, or Sjsuler, respectively. Its cause may be the fact that the greater part of the epeeies will appear in different times in different territories, and also that the same species may have one or two generations, according to breeding possibilities presented by the climate of the area in question. It is now established that M , euphemus has but one generation; the data gleaned for L.amandus and Agr. damon, - species occuring in alight numbers - testify on the same, as they do for I.lolas, formerly thought to have two broods. There is no flying diapause of C.minimus . Cyan, semiargus and Call.ru bi, and it is possible that a partial second generation joins a prolonged first one. On the other hand, the L.hippothoë population of Com, Somogy has two generations, as against the alpine hippoth oë forms of one yearly brood. Finally, I laid special stress upon the fact that only a very small number of our Lycaenid species are able to breed on areas under agriculture,so that the progress of cultivation /the draining of swamps, tillage of virgin soil/ will further impoverish our fauna. The survival of some rare jpecies may, however, be assured by the reservation of their habitats.
