Mihályi, Budapest, In connection with the writing of the volumes on Diptera of the Fauna of Hungary, recently in the course of publication, Hungarian dipterologists had to decide in advance on whether they wish to use the names of Meigen aa of 1800 or 1803. Author discusses the history of the case, the distribution of the recent usage of names ac&prding to the statistics of Sabrosky, and the present state of the case awaiting the decision of the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature. Since this latter will, for the sake of unifox*mity, probably decide on the suppression of the 1800 paper,Hungarian dipterologists decided to use the 1803 names in the Fauna of Hungary and in their other papers.
