The Forms of Plebeius sephirus Friv. in the Middle Donubian Basin By Dr. R. Szabó Author diecussea the range of Plebeiua aephiru8 Friv, He gives also the original description of this species, by Imre Frivaldszky, It is further established that, in the Middle T)anubian Basin, there are three iaolated populations of sephirus . Of these, Rebel described the one which is to be found in the Deliblat sand desert, as var, uhryki . It was known, however, some years prior to this time that sephirus flies also in Transsylvania, but they found it in greater numbers in the tourist place Szónafüvek, near Kolozsvár, only in the 'thirties. The third population was discovered at Fót, near Budapest, in 1944, The three populations rather strikingly differ not only from the nomenclatural form of Sliven, Bulgaria, but from each other, too, Mearest to sephiru8 aephirua Friv. stands the Transsylvanián, that is, the Kolozsvár population. It is congruent with it in its size, form, and also in its bright violet color. The real difference' ia on the underside of the wings. Its basic color i8 somewhat darker on the specimens '[ originsting from Kolozsvár than on spehirus sephirus , but this is a dull color with a more yellowish fuscous tint in its grey. The submarginal orange spots on the hind wings are not great, while the black dots bordering them on the termen are smaller . with never a metallic scale in them.
