Small ruminants Sheep - 26 pieces of bones, 6 individuals Goat - 7 pieces of bones, 3 individuals The sheep horn core fragment from the parv is of the Mithraic temple is small, flat, slightly arched, belonging to a female animal. On the basis of the postcranial bone fragments the sheep were uniformly of small dimension. From the archaeozoological evidence found outside the Mithraeum there were three edge curly ram horn cores found as well. The sheep remains could be attributed to 6 individuals: one individual in the sanctuary (inf., 8-10 months old); 2 inds. in the central aisle (ad.) and 3 in the parvis (ad.) The goat horn-bases from the central aisle are straight "sabre-form". Horn core dimensions vary between 33 mm (large diam.) to 23 mm (small diam.) with base circular dimension: 95 mm. goat remains can be attributed to 1 juvenilis and 2 adultus individuals. The horn cores of aurochs can be characterised by thick wall and the so-called triple "primigenius" spiral form. At the lower end of the horn core cutmarks originating from chopper can be found. On the basis of the horn core size the pieces used to belong to female individuals (aurochs cows) 8 . The postcranial bones of red deer also used to belong to female individuals 9. 4. Animal remains in Mithraeums The archaeozoologic study of the numerous Mithraic temples excavated during the more than 100 years passed concentrated only for the last decade. In case of several Mthraic temples the place of origin for the animal bones was mentioned and the occurring species were listed.
