ANTLER FINDS IN THE. FLINT MINE 79 Fig. 8 Denevér street. 1984-87. Parts of the antler. Separeted main tines and crown tines 8. kép Denevér út 1984-87. Agancsrégiók. Különálló fő- és koronaágak A3. - 3 pieces: two infantile cast antlers (62,66.), length: 180 216 mm; a juvenile antler with skull-fr. (10), its length: 225 mm, the height of the pedicle 62 mm. The A2. type is absent from the find assemblage. The cast antler (129) of the single first antlered (two years old) red deer is noteworthy. Part B. - beam base Antler with skull-fr. (pedicle) or cast antler, without the beam. The beam is cut off over the brow and/or tne bez tine (Fig. 7. В.). Depending on the future use the brow and bez tines were either left or removed. In the Denevér street flint mine antler part В is represented by only one find, its is the beam base of a middle-aged stag antler with the skull-f. ( 105/a). The length of the beam base (measured starting from the burn) is 72 mm, the height of the pedicle is 25 mm, its circumference is 163 mm. As for the types A. and B. there is no reason to separate antlers with skull-fr. and cast antlers from the viewpoint of cutting up or of utilization. 6 The basic difference between the two groups is in the way of getting them and not in cutting up them, that is antlers with skull fr. originate from hunted animals while cast ones were collected. Part C. - beam This is the middle part of the beam, that part of the antler which is between the brow/bez tine and the crown ramification. The length of the middle beam is over 150 mm, the spring of the trez tine is present - CI; the length of the middle beam is less than 150 mm, the spring of the trez tine is present - C2; upper beam (the part between the trez tine and tne crown ramification) - C3; lower beam (the part between the trez tine and the brow/bez tine) - C4 (Fig. 7. С 1-4). Depending on the future use the trez tine was either left or removed. Sz. O. 3, 10, 22, 24. Böckner 1980.
