István Vörös: A Denevér úti kovabánya agancsleletei (Budapest-Farkasrét)

72 ISTVÁN VÖRÖS surfaces (nuipber of pieces) 2. kép Denevér út 1984-87. Gímszarvas agancsleletek megoszlása szintek és felületek szerint (dbszám) In this year three sections of SW-NE direction were opened over the crumbling dolomite wall, at the margin of the hillside. The dimensions of the sections are: Section No. I. in the S: 2x6 m; Section No. II. to the N of No. I. at a lOm's distance: 2x9 m; and to another 3 m' s distance from the previous one Section No. Ill: 2x3 m (Fig. 1). On the contour plan belonging to the excavation documentation (Fig. 1) the sections were not numbered. On the basis of the description of the excavation records and of their dimensions, however, sections Nos. I. and II. can be identified beyond doubt. Since there are two sections on the plan with the dimensions 2 X 3 m, and there are only three sections mentioned in the documentation it is highly probable that the northern 2x3 "surface" corresponds to section No. III. Within section No. I. the finds were found just below the humus, at the border of the talus and of the dolomite bedrock at - 40/50 cm. A right side upper beam part together with the crown fragment (6) and a right side juvenile beam are (10) are denoted as found "in grey earth, on the top". The sections Nos. II. and III. did not contain archeological finds. The sections were along the SE, E side of the mining field. The excavation of the mining field had started at the "main profile". After cutting it to be vertical the wall was cleaned by forming a 7 m long, 1 m wide, 4-5 m deep block which later was divided into seven surfaces of 1 x 1 m and into three (A., B. and C.) levels. In the lower C. level on the surface 84/2-4 in the fissure of a "fault line" of approx. N-S direction three antlers (34.-37.) which had fallen into the fissure were found in a bad, decaying condition. Antlers covered by a network of roots were found vertically in every part of the block. The quantity of earth exploited was 31,5 m 3. In the 1984 year block four surfaces (A. 1-2, B. 7, C. 6) did not contain finds and seven surfaces contained a single numbered find one by one (Figs. 2-5).
