36 VIOLA T. DOBOSI-IS ÏV ÀN GAT T ER the material (1974), it was a desolate area partly covered with orchards and vineyards, cultivated by deep ploughing and a dissected surface. The range of hills leading towards the west, i.e., the Eger stream valley is a steep step-like relief. Find circumstances: Surface stray find. No excavations were made on the site. Description of rock crystal items: Inv. nr. Pb 74/273. Trapeziform flake, proximal fragment of a wide blade. On the right side, shouldering retouch, on the left side, burin scar. Both the ventral and dorsal parts seem worked, but these flaky "retouches" are probably natural cleavage surfaces of the raw material. Size: 21 x27 mm Sample 4.: clear, slightly yellow tint ("citrine-like"). Contains a lot of inclusions in a stripe as follows: I. two-phase isometrical bodies with 30-50 vol. % gaseous phase. IE isometrical objects connected to the previous type in which the presence of CO, is indicated by a immiscible ring of second liquid between the gaseous and the liquid phase. III. two phase bodies with 10-15 vol. % gaseous phase. Type III. dominates the sample. Photo: 8, 9, 10, II Cultural affiliation: Among the surface collected finds there are worked fragments, archaic types (Middle Palaeolithic scrapers) and old Upper Palaeolithic type tools, made of raw materials collected along the southern margin of the Biikk mountains. There is no scientific evidence on the age of the site. Hypothetically the finds can be classified into the old Upper Palaeolithic horizon without more close definition of the culture. Jászfelsőszentgyörgy-Székesdűlő (DOBOSI 1993) Topography: The "Jászság" area received its name after the population (Jász people). As all regions with an ethnic name, it comprises geomorphologically different small areas. These local characteristics are not very apparent here, at the Northern border of the Alföld region. The zonality observable in the vertical movement of the sediments and its genetical relations explains a lot of "white spots" in prehistory. Between the slopes of the hills and the alluvial plain, a step of 100-110 m height a.s.l. is inserted. Upper Palaeolithic sites are known from this environment. These sites are known mainly from field surveys as stray finds but in the vicinity of Jászfelsőszentgyörgy, two Upper Palaeolithic settlements were checked by excavations along the filled backwaters called Szunyoglapos. At the site Székesdülő, two layers of temporary hunting camp site were opened. Find circumstances: the rock crystal Паке is a surface stray find. Stratigraphical conditions ascertained that it must belong to the upper cultural horizon. The upper layer was found under the humus in the depth of 35-40 cm in loess disturbed at some places by ploughing. The stray finds on the surface indicating the location of the settlement were brought to the surface by the agricultural activity 1. There are no other archaeological periods found on the site. Description of rock crystal items: Inv. nr. Pb 90/246. Wide blade with trapeze cross section, slightly twisted. On the dorsal side, towards the bulb, concentrical ribs can be observed due to cleavage properties. The bulb is thinned. Distal end fragmented, proximal part slightly retouched. Size: 45x26 mm. Sample 5.: clear, elongated trapeze form. No interior objects were found within the resolution of the microscope. Cultural affiliation: Both layers of the settlement belong to the younger blade phylum of the Gravettian entity. Dated by C-14 : Deb 1674 : 18500 ±400 BP (DOBOSI-HER FELEN DI 1993).
