Tóth Endre: Dr. Soproni Sándor szakirodalmi munkássága
34 VIOLA T. DOBOSI-IS ÏV ÀN GAT T ER Photos: 1,2. Cultural affiliation: The site belongs to the older blade industry phylum of the Gravettian entity, related to the Pavlov-Willendorf type industries. Megyaszó-Szelestető (DOBOSI-SIMÁN 1996) Topography: The site is located on one of the plateau-like intervalley ridges bordering the river Hernád from the east. This plateau is steep towards the northnorthwest and the east, separated from its environment by erosional valleys of 1618° degree of slope (CSORBA 1996.20). The hill is one of the ideal strategical points of the Szerencs hills, adjoining the Tokal-Eperjes Mts. from the southwest. It is an ideal place for habitation located in the vicinity of good quality raw material sources, protected from the north by the Nagyrépás mountain and from the south by a range of hills separating it from the Alföld (Lowland) region. Find circumstances: The two rock crystal flakes were found as stray finds on the surface. Excavations on the site revealed two cultural layers. The upper cultural layer was found immediately under the present soil which was cultivated often and substantially. The lower cultural layer was found in the depth of 90-120 cm from the present surface, with usual habitation features. Our observations on the site indicate that the surface finds, including the rock crystal flakes can only originate from the upper horizon. It is also certain that similar to Bodrogkeresztur, they belong to the Upper Palaeolithic settlement because of the same reasons. Raw material: About 90% of nearly 8000 tools, found in both cultural layers and the surface, were made of local hydrothermal silices. Description of rock crystal items: Inv. nr. Pb 94/12. Small, slender flake with definite bulb. On the distal edge, left side, an atypical borer was made with a short retouch. Size: 21x8 mm. Sample 2: clear, elongated piece. Microscopical examination has found no interior features within the resolution of the microscope. Inv. nr. 94/12. Unworked fragment with definite bulb and faceted flaking platform, probably not artificial but due to the stepwise fracturing of the material. Sample 3: clear, slightly smoky shade with the tip of the crystal on one of the short sides. The surface is smooth, even. In the diagonal fracture zone which can be observed macroscopically the following inclusions were identified: I. Perpendicular to the fracture zone, 10-15 дт large object, generally with gaseous phases only (95-100 vol. %) II. These objects are accompanied by similar bodies with two phase inclusions 20-30 vol. % gaseous phase III. Near the margins, two phase inclusions with 3-5 vol. % gaseous phase can be observed (rarely) IV. In some cases, scars (butterfly-wing pattern) can be observed Cultural affiliation: The complete material of Szelestető (surf ace finds, upper and lower cultural horizons) show a unified view, both typologically and technologically. The lithic assemblage belongs to an old Gravettian type industry, preserving Aurignacoid features in tool working. Its analogies are known from Bodrogkeresztur and the Pavlovian technocomplexes. Andornakt ály a- Alsótető Topography: The Bükk mountains are hemmed from the south by a range of hills dissected by stream valleys. To the southeast of Eger, in the vicinity of Andornaktálya the streams Ostoros (NW-SE) and Eger (N-S) enclose hills of f 90-200 m height a.s.l. Alsótető is one of these.
