Carenoid character is very marked. Use-wear analysis Use-wear analyses were made on the tools from Püspökhatvan-Diós and Öregszőlő by E. Bácskay,

9 with the aid of an Ortholux II. POL-BK Leitz Wetzlar metallographic microscope, using 200 X magnification. 13 tools were selected for microwear analysis (Pb. 92.469; 92. 496; 93.27; 93.281; 93.292; 93.298; 93.300; 93.407; 93.427; 93.462; 93.469; 93.498 and 93.500). Unfortunately none of the tools yielded definite traces of micro-wear on them. This, however, does not mean that these tools were not used at all. It is possible that they were used only for a short time during which no visible traces of use can develope, Moreover, the highly crystalline structure and tlie highly reflective character of raw material - none of them are uncommon among hydroquartzites 1
