István Vörös: A Solymári barlang középső pleisztocén emlősfaunája
46 3. THE MIDDLE PLEISTOCENE MACRO MAMMAL FAUNA OF THE SOLYMÁR CAVE The following parts of the Solymár Cave contain paleontological remains originating from their dark red clay layers: Kiskürtö — A/2, Kiskörút — A/7a and Cirkus^ pihenő — A/8. The vertebrate material was determined by M. Kretzoi, that time the Director of the Paleontological Department of the Hungarian National Museum who was also supervisor of the 1943 excavation. In 1943 M. Kretzoi made a manuscript on the remains which later in 1946 he himself completed. This manuscript which contains the description of several new taxa (Table 1.) was given by the author together with the finds D. Jánossy for further study and publication. The bats were handed over to Gy. Topái for further study 1 8. The "Postglacial" mollusc remains were published by M. Rotarides in 1944. Later they were revised by E. Krolopp (Table 5.) 1 9. The mammal faunal list of M. Kretzoi's original manuscript is in the Table 1. In 1969 this list was completed by D. Jánossy who added it his own data 20 from the 1942/43 material: Lyrurus tetrix L. 2 pieces Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax 1 Apodemus sylvaticus (L) from the 1942/43 and 1951 materials: Canis lupus ssp. 1 Myodes glareolus 34 Lagurus lagurus ssp. 4 Microtus arvalis (Pall.)* 173 Microtus oeconomus (Pall) 5 Microtus gregalis (Pall) 28 Pitymys cf. subterraneus-arvalidens 5 Pitymys gregaloides 3 In this paper I documented only the macro mammals of the Middle Pleistocene Fauna of the Solymár Cave, because their exact places can be reconstructed and know their dark red clay sediment 2 1. Jánossy; the bat fauna will be studied by Gy. Topái Here I should like to express my thanks to Prof. D. Jánossy who kindly yielded to me the investigation of the macromammal remains and permitted me to publish the material. The remains are in the Paleontological Dept. of Nat. Hist. Mus., Inv.
