The aurochs skeleton from Kecel-Rózsaberek The aurochs remains found at Kecel-Rózsaberek were collected by j. Iván, a teacher at Kecel. When A. Horváth., the former director of the Katona József Museum in Kecskemét had been informed of the find, together with S. Bökönyi (then working in the Hungarian National Museum) he visited the locality on 24. October 1964, and they collected some additional bones belonging to the skeleton 1 5. Many bones of the aurochs skeleton had been lost, because of the mechanical exploitation of the turf. The postcranial part of the skeleton is incomplete: vert, cervic 1 —5th, 7th; vert, thorac. 3 rd, 6 th, 11th; vert, sacralis 1 —3rd; vert. caud. 2—18/20th; 13 costae (10 sin. and 3 dext.); 23 cartilago costalis; praesternum + stenebra 1 —3rd; 11 carpale (5 sin. and 6 dext.); metacarpus sin.; femur-tibia dext.; patella sin. and dext.; 8 tarsale (4 sin. and 4 dext.); metatarsus dext.; 22 os phalangis (10 frontal and 12 hinder ones); 24 os sesamoideum are missing. The incomplete skeleton is well preserved. Remains: complete skull with horn-cores (65.8.1., Fig.1.1.). mandibula sin. and dext.
