Vörös István: A Tiszalúc-sarkadi rézkori település állatcsontleletei (Előzetes jelentés)

ANIMAL REMAINS FROM THE COPPER AGE SETTLEMENT AT TISZALÜC - SARKAD (PRELIMINARY REPORT) About 60% of the animal bone material found on the site of Tiszalúc— Sarkad has been determined until now (Table 1). The village belongs to the final phase of the Middle Coopper Age (Hunyadihalom group); it is almost completely excavated. 92.68% of the determined bone material belongs to domesticated animals and only 7.32% of it represents game animals. Cattle is absolutely dominant among domesticated animals — 88.26%! Among small ruminants, goats are present in greater number. The domesticated horses and the dogs are of small size. Among the dorsal vertebrae of cattle a bifurcated spinous process was found which is morphologically identical with the spinous processes of the 8—9th dorsal vertebrae of the humped cattle zebu (Fig. 1.1.).97.62% of the game animals was hunted for their meat, and 2.38% constitutes furred animals. Considering the Persian Lion 7, the elk 6 (Fig. 1.4.) and the Mesopotamian fallow deer (Fig.1.2.3.), three additional species can now be added to the Hungarian Holocene macromammal fauna.
