ANIMAL REMAINS ÍROM TISZA VAL K-TETES 87 It is clear from the animal bone material of the few Bodrogkeresztúr settlements and cemeteries that live-stock in this culture consists of "large" cattle and "small" shepp and pig. The everyday sources of meat were cattle and pig. On the basis of what is presently known, small ruminants seem to be the most important animals consumed during the sacrificial feast of the funeral. The consumption of the "sacrificial lamb" and/or the placing of certain parts in the grave together with the corpse (Table 1., 2) is an ancient traditional rite among many pastoral tribes. Table 3.
