Bíró-Sey Katalin: A perbáli éremlelet

THE COIN FIND OF PERBÁL The coin find of Perbál was partly (526 pes) published by the author in FA 16(1964), pp. 63—77. Further 206 pieces, to be published here, also belonged to the find, which consisted in total of 732 coins. In the present paper Tables I—II relate to this complementary part of the find while Tables III IV give data for the whole find. The earliest mint of the find is an AE 4 coin of Constans signed ASIS (cf. LBRC 799), minted in Siscia, of the type VICTORIAEDDAVGGQNN (Fig. 1,1 ), to be dated to the period between 341 and 346. On the basis of the Nicomedia mint of Constantius II (LRBC 2313) the closing of the find can be dated to the beginning of the year 355, i.e. no essential modification as for the chronology of the closing, stated when dealing with the other part of the find, has taken place. The fact decisive for the dating, namely that Julian is not represented with any of his coins, remains in the enlarged find, too. The historical events, related to the hiding of the find, outlined in the abovementioned publication, are thus valid for the whole find. The fact that the find is published in two parts allows of certain comparisons. Tables and Graps V-VII represent the differences in the percental relation of the emperors, mint offices and chronological division regarding the incomplete resp. the complete find.
