Viola T. Dobosi: Őskori telep Demjén-Hegyeskőbércen
22 V. T. DOBOSI As for the dwelling object, uncovered at Demjén-Hegyeskőbérc, its analogies cannot be found - at least for the time being - in the whole Neolithic of Europe from Asia Minor to France. 2 2 The excavation yielded, for the extension of the uncovered area, a fairly rich archaeological find material. Sherds In the course of the preliminary terrain inspections we found on this area no traces of pottery. During the excavation sherds were found in the humus layer, not to be bound to a certain stratum, further at the bottom of the humus, on the walking surface of the settlement. All of them are very small fragments, not allowing any conclusions as for the form of the vessels. The only exceptions are some larger fragments from the bottom and walls of a thick-walled, big storage vessel; the sherds served for completing the stone packing (Figs. 5,6). Worth mentioning are furthermore some rim fragments (Figs. 5: 1-4), я. sherd from a pot, whose sides were decorated with a finger-impressed lath, some smaller fragments of a filter. A lot of non-characteristical, small sherds could have belonged to about the same number of pots - or not much more - than the ones, whose rim-, resp. bottom fragment we have shown on our plate. The sherds are of a bad quality clay, tempered with crushing, the building of the pots is coarse, their wall thickness varies. They are burnt unevenly, at low temperatures, of a spotty surface. Polished Stone Implement One polished stone chisel was found (Fig. 4: 1). It is made of serpentine with measures of 55x39x14 mm; somewhat damaged at its edge and head. A most general type. 2 2 Informatory literature on house types of the Neolithic age: Gimbulas, M., The prehistory of Eastern Europe. (Cambridge i\lass. 1956) Figs. 55, 66.
